Soueid: Syria is supporting Hezbollah to bring down the Lebanese state
Former MP Fares Soueid, the general secretariat of the March 14 forces, said that the majority has never been convinced that a solution to the presidential elections crisis is possible because the opposition is dependent on the Syrian-Iranian axis, which insists on obstructing the election of Army Commander General Michel Sleiman.
“The opposition’s primary objective is the breakdown of the state through the total paralysis of constitutional institutions. Its practices are aimed at wasting time because they think that this will weaken the Lebanese state,” Soueid told the Kuwaiti As-Siyassa.
Soueid said that Iran is supporting Hamas in Gaza in order to erode the Palestinian Authority and Hezbollah in Lebanon in order to bring down the Lebanese state.
“The opposition is allied with Syria against the whole world,” he noted.
“I hope that a president be elected before the Arab Summit, which, if it succeeds, will solve the political crisis in Lebanon,” he declared.
Soueid also recalled Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak statement that the host state of the Arab Summit is the same party obstructing the solution in Lebanon.
“How could this state be interested in Arab interests while it is damaging the interests of a neighboring country like Lebanon?” Soueid asked.
