Hariri, Aoun Discussed Various Issues Openly and Honestly
A meeting between PM-designate Saad Hariri and Free Patriotic Movement leader Michel Aoun on Thursday as part of binding parliamentary consultations was conducted in a calm atmosphere, FPM sources told the daily An-Nahar in remarks published Friday.
They said the two leaders discussed various political issues openly and honestly.
The sources said talks on a Cabinet lineup, however, did not touch on details like distribution of portfolios.
Hariri asked Aoun one question: What kind of Cabinet does the FPM prefer, and what does it think of a technocrat Cabinet or one made up of top political leaders?
The sources said Aoun informed Hariri that the FPM favors a national unity government, without announcing whether he was with or against the other kinds of government.
When Hariri asked Aoun about the Cabinet makeup, the FPM chief said: "Since we have earlier agreed on a 15-10-5 formula, then let it be."
