France Has No Demands from Syria over Lebanon
Syrian Foreign Minister Walid Muallem has said during a visit to Paris that French officials haven”t made any demands over the Lebanese cabinet crisis.
"France has no demands from Syria over Lebanon," Muallem said Wednesday during a speech at the International Academy of Diplomacy.
He stressed that Paris and Damascus are in agreement to stay away from Lebanese internal affairs. Both countries "want to encourage dialogue" among Lebanese parties "to form a made-in-Lebanon cabinet."
On his second day of visit to the French capital, Muallem met with President Nicolas Sarkozy following talks with his counterpart Bernard Kouchner.
Muallem described his meeting with Sarkozy as "excellent and constructive."
