Negotiations over FPM Ministerial share Hinders Cabinet Formation
Lebanese Forces bloc MP Antoine Zahra said in a Tuesday interview with Akhbar al-Yawm news agency that the obstacle impeding the cabinet formation is the negotiations between “Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri and Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun over the distribution of a number of portfolios,” in reference to the Free Patriotic Movement’s share in the new cabinet.
He described as a “joke” reports that Aoun will be granted the justice ministry to resolve the impasse.
He also said that the foreign influence over the cabinet formation is “clear,” adding he hopes that the Lebanese will benefit from the Arab rapprochement and form a new government as soon as possible.
Zahra said that Hariri is still communicating with “his March 14 allies,” adding that “the Christian meeting in Maarab sought to reinforce their political role, to continue the Cedar Revolution and to support Hariri’s effort to form a new cabinet.”
