Patriarch Sfeir receives invitation to the “Spring of Lebanon 2008” Congress

 

Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir received an invitation to the March 14 first-annual congress called “The Spring of Lebanon 2008” from a delegation including MP Mustafa Allouch, MP Antoine Saad, former MP Camille Ziade, Michel Mkattaf, Eddie Abi Lamaa and lawyer Marwan Sakr.

 

Abi Lamaa said that the delegation’s visit to the Patriarch aimed to inform him of the preparations for the congress and its agenda.

 

“The congress will outline a vision for the future of Lebanon,” Abi Lamaa said. He added that the Patriarch welcomed the idea of the congress.

 

“As of next Friday, we will have written a memorandum to discuss with politicians, economists, technicians and technocrats,” Abi Lamaa said.

 

MP Allouch said that the memorandum will be about the future, and will be “different from other understandings signed between Lebanese factions. It will open the horizon to the Lebanese elite, who feel marginalized,” Allouch said.

 

“It is aimed at reinstating this elite’s role,” he added.
