Cabinet’s Christian-Majority Package Finalized
Lebanese Forces MP George Adwan told Future News on Saturday that the “cabinet package for Christians within the majority has been finalized,” adding that the names of some potential ministers still need to be sorted out.
Adwan said that MP Boutros Harb has been nominated to the new cabinet, but would not say what position Harb would take.
He added that the Lebanese Forces will maintain the Justice Ministry and another portfolio, with the possibility of being granted the Social Affairs Ministry.
“The cabinet lineup disregards several issues,” he stated, “However, national unity is necessary at this time.”
Adwan also voiced concern that the new ministerial statement appears ambiguous; he would not explain further, but stressed there is controversy over the issue of arms in Lebanon, a possible reference to Hezbollah’s arms.
