Geagea Visits Hariri, Says with Damascus Visit if it Tackles Pending Issues

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Friday visited Prime Minister Saad Hariri at Center House, a day after Hariri”s government won a sweeping vote of confidence in the Parliament.

"We are with Hariri”s visit to Damascus, but the visit has to be well-planned and under an agenda. It has to tackle the pending issues between the two countries and not to be just for formalities," said Geagea, after the meeting.

On the other hand, Geagea considered Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun”s recent visit to Syria as a "message to whom it may concern" that Syria would "pave the way with red carpets" to those who ally themselves with it.

Geagea added that Syria”s approach toward Lebanon has not changed.

"This is the first time I hear that there is a Judiciary in Syria," said Geagea, commenting on the issue of Syrian warrants against a number of Lebanese officials.

"The brothers in Syria seemed, or at least some of them, as not wanting this visit," added Geagea.

On the other hand, Geagea admonished the supporting statements of President Michel Suleiman to the resistance during Independence Day speech.

"I personally consider them biased in favor of the other side”s point of view," added Geagea, commenting on the president”s statements.

Geagea considered the parliamentary sessions for debate on a vote of confidence in Hariri”s government as "historical," as they tackled all issues "frankly, deeply, and democratically."
