The violent events that took place over the past week, specifically in Hadath, rushed President Michel Aoun and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri to open a channel of communications, especially that the political tension reached very dangerous heights, while it’s in no one’s interest to allow this tension to escalate to a national crisis.
Credit goes to all parties for their ability to set aside their political differences and prioritize national stability and security, and this is exactly what is required at this point.
The communication between the President and the Speaker gave the public a sigh of relief, after being taken back to the memories of the civil war, especially that the Lebanese people are still paying the price of their past, and that is a motivation to keep moving forward and create a strong and independent state where every citizen feels safe and secure.
With that crisis ending, the focus is shifting back to the elections.
