أسفت منظمة “هيومن رايتس ووتش” الحقوقية لأن رئيس الوزراء الإسرائيلي الأسبق آرييل شارون توفي قبل أن يواجه العدالة خصوصاً عن دوره في مجازر صبرا وشاتيلا في لبنان عام 1982.
وقالت سارة ليا ويتسون، مديرة شؤون الشرق الأوسط في المنظمة في بيان “من المؤسف أن يذهب شارون إلى قبره من دون أن يواجه العدالة عن دوره في (مجازر) صبرا وشاتيلا وانتهاكات اخرى”.
وأضافت: “رحيله تذكير قاتم آخر بأن سنوات من الإفلات من العقاب عن انتهاكات الحقوق لم تفعل شيئاً لجعل السلام بين الاسرائيليين والفلسطينيين أقرب. فوفاة شارون من دون مواجهة العدالة، تزيد من مأساة الآلاف من ضحايا الانتهاكات” التي قام بها.
