اعتبر النائب وليد جنبلاط ان آرييل شارون لا يختلف عن الكثير من أقرانه الذين تتلمذوا في المدرسة الصهيونيّة ومؤسستها العسكريّة وتنقلوا في مناصبها المختلفة طالما أن الهدف الدائم والمستمر كان القضاء على فلسطين وشعبها وحقوقه الوطنيّة المشروعة.
واضاف في موقفه الاسبوعي لـ”الأنباء”: “قد يكون شارون تفوق على سواه في كمية الحقد والاجرام الذي مارسه، ولكن من غير الممكن النظر إلى تجربته السياسيّة والعسكريّة بمعزل عن المشروع الذي إنتمى إليه والذي مارست كل رموزه أشكالاً مختلفة من الاجرام والتهجير والقتل والتشريد”.
وقال جنبلاط: “كم يماثل شارون من نماذج مشابهة في العالم العربي نكلوا بشعوبهم وهجروهم وإرتكبوا بحقهم المجازر تلو المجازر وقد ولد عنفهم التطرف والعنف المقابل. فالشارونيّة، على ما يبدو، نهج إسرائيلي يطبق في إسرائيل والدول العربيّة!”

Joumblat’s comparison of Sharon to Arab leaders is erroneous and naïve. Judging by his record, Sharon’s conduct differs from those of Arab dictators in principal and conduct. While Bashar Al Assad and Hassan Nasrallah turned their guns on their fellow Arabs, Sharon has fought, defended, promoted and protected the interests of his clan. Furthermore, Sharon was a true leader for his people. He was a true leader; he commanded and led his tank brigades in battles unlike the sewer dwellers Hassan Nasrallah and Bashar who have redefined the word cowardice. Throughout the history of the Jewish state, neither Sharon nor any other Israeli leader have gassed the Jewish population of the state of Israel (or the Palestinians for that matter). Yet Arab leaders from Saddam Hussein to Bashar Al Assad and Hassan Nasrallah have used nerve gas to kill Iraqi and Syrian nationals including women and children.
