بعد التصريح الذي أدلى به رئيس النظام السوري بشار الأسد بحسب صحيفة “السفير”، أشار نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأسبق إيلي الفرزلي إلى أنّ “الذي يسلّم بوحدة البلد ويعتبر إسرائيل العدو الأول للبنان، وأن المقاومة هي حق مشروع لكل البنانيين، ويرفض الصراع المذهبي السني الشيعي ويؤيد الحل السياسي في سوريا، هو الإستنتاج الطبيعي لكلام الأسد”.
وعن هوية المرشّح اللبناني لرئاسة الجمهورية والذي يخدم خيار الرئيس الأسد، قال الفرزلي في حديث لموقع ” alkalima online”: “لا شك أن العماد عون هي شخصية تطمئن الرئيس الأسد لأنها شخصية لا يمكن أن تطعن بالظهر ولا يمكن أن تتآمر على هذا المسار”.
أما رئيس حزب التوحيد العربي الوزير السابق وئام وهاب فغرد عبر “تويتر” قائلاً: “باستثناء ميشال عون وسليمان فرنجيّة أي مرشّح للإنتخابات الرئاسيّة في لبنان لا يزور قصر المهاجرين سيكون حظّه معدوماً في الرئاسة”.
